Girls Having Fun???

That could be questionable.... Freezing cold rain, wind, and a tiny heater- that is how we spend our Saturdays!  Christmas on Main St. (downtown Taylorsville) was a quiet event.  I think most of the smart people decided to stay home but we still had a great time!  Hot chocolate, whipped cream, sprinkles, chocolate chips and peppermint treats- who needs anything else!!

For those of you who do not know who in the world is in this picture- these would be some of my great friends (Ashley on the left, Jana in the middle and Erica on the right)!  I enjoyed hanging out with you all but would prefer some place warmer next time?

Update to Lydia's journey... still waiting :0)  As of December 31st it will be 4 months.  We were told the referral process could take 4-6 months.  Please pray it is closer to 4 than 6 !  We were a little disappointed to learn that we did not get approval for our last grant application.  We are still short 7900.00 but we are trusting that somehow God will provide the funds to complete our adoption.  I am still giving flu shots if needed!  You can send an email to :  melton5@alslouisville.com and I will be happy to meet you or come to my home to get a shot!  The cost is 15.00.

May you all have a blessed Christmas and remember the reason we celebrate this special time of the year.  Our Savior was born!  Praise God that He sent his Son to this earth for us to have a restored relationship with our Father and be reconciled unto Him! 

The Holidays are Here!

Well, I'm not sure about everyone else but I have had enough turkey and dressing to last until next Thanksgiving! We had an awesome time visiting with family and friends in Mississippi but I am always thankful for my own bed!

Many of you have asked about our adoption... we are STILL WAITING.. I have to say that the Lord has been so good to us in providing many things to keep us occupied and on our knees! Please pray for the situation in North and South Korea. Most of you probably know that tensions have increased and we are praying that war will not erupt. The Lord has reminded me over and over as I go to Him in prayer to "follow Him" and "to not be afraid". I am overwhelmed by His love and peace that He alone can give when you know that you have no control over the situation.

I am still giving flu shots! I will be setting up a clinic in Taylorsville this week or next and some of you have emailed me about setting up a time to get yours!! Thanks so much! We still have about 8,300.00 to raise for the final referral fees and we know that God will provide! Blessings!

I Still Have Flu Shots!!

Thanks to all of you wonderful people out there who have rolled up your sleeve and purchased a flu shot from me! (And I will say most were pleasantly surprised at the "NO PAIN" experience!)

I have given about 50 shots total and would love to give 150 more! We are creeping our way slowly towards the last few thousand dollars to raise for our adoption but we could give alot more flu shots to make that a reality!!

A blessing in disguise!

Most of you know that I am a nurse. (yes a nurse to my children and husband but seriously a "real nurse" as our kids put it!) I haven't practiced in a couple of years but God provided an opportunity for me to "refresh" my skills and earn some money for our adoption so I have been working part-time for about 6 months.

Well, my boss came up to me this week and asked if I thought I could make any money selling flu shots to help us raise the remainder of the fees needed to complete our adoption!! Of course I said "YES!" I am always up for a challenge!! I cannot explain to you how truly awesome it has been to see God's hand moving in all aspects of this adoption. We praise God for his abundant blessings and provision!

So... I am now in the side business of selling "flu shots"! If you know of someone who may want a shot they are 15.00 each and I can give them in my home or come to their workplace, etc. My workplace is a mobile flu clinic during the flu season so I can also provide flu shots for a business and/or customers!
We have the potential to raise enough to complete our funding!!

No news is good news Right?

Well, two weeks from today we find ourselves at the second month of waiting on a referral. I try not to dwell on it too much, but it is hard when you pass by her room twenty times a day. We long for Lydia to be with us and the funny thing is we do not even know what she looks like!

But God knows. "He knows every hair on our heads" and "Knew us before we were in our mother's womb". These and other Scriptures give me great comfort when the longing becomes overwhelming. I trust the Lord and His timing- it is my lack of patience that is the problem!

We have overcome the halfway mark in raising funds for Lydia! Woo-Hoo!! We now have 9,700.00 to complete her adoption. Words cannot express enough how much we thank each of you who have contributed to bringing Lydia home and are diligently praying for her even at this moment. We love you all and thank God every day for you!

Please pass this website along to anyone you may know who would love to pray for our family. We covet your prayers and we long to see God glorified in this journey!

What in the world would I do without friends?

You know for those of us who are not "Techy Savvy" people, living in this world today can be quite challenging... I am SOOOO thankful for friends who are willing to take time and show me (on a first grade level) how to set up a blog. Many thanks to my dear friend Jana for taking some time out of her busy day to help the helpless!

We are still in a "holding pattern" for our adoption. I am so grateful for a busy schedule (homeschooling,working,ministry) to keep my mind focused on other things because the waiting could most certainly drive you crazy!

I know however, that my Lord is in control and she will come home in His timing not mine. We still need to raise 10 thousand dollars to complete the adoption. We were hoping for another grant application to be accepted, but it was not so we are now looking and praying for other funding ideas.

Some have asked if they could still make a donation to Lifesong on our behalf and the answer is YES! Our account will be open until Lydia's adoption is finalized. You can simply click on the logo in the right column of our blog, then go to the left column on Lifesong's website "make a donation" and then scroll down the page to the yellow "donate" icon. Under the purpose description at the top put "Melton #1349 Adoption" and then fill out your payment information. We will receive an update when donations are made.

Lydia's Room in Pink! I finally got it!

Well, I guess I have finally entered the world of "Blogging"!

Many of you know by now that we are adopting a little girl from South Korea!  We are sooooo excited, especially with the "outpouring" of love from our family and friends who have already helped us to raise over HALF of the money required to bring her home.

Therefore, we decided the best way to keep everyone informed of our process was of course the "Internet"!  So, our blog was born.  I hope you will enjoy "my ramblings" and pray for us as we move forward in the adoption process.

Of course you have probably figured out by the title of our blog that our little girl's name will be Lydia!  This was a fun family affair in choosing a name, but Mama won :).  As of today, our paperwork is sitting in Korea, waiting to be matched with a baby girl.  We rest in knowing that God knows exactly where she is and has a plan to bring her home.  We humbly ask you to pray for her safety, provision, and that she will get to come home to us very soon!  We have been told that a referral could take up to 4-6 months or sooner.

We still have to raise 11,000.00 to bring Lydia home.  We have seen God's hand working mightily in this situation and we trust that He will provide everything we need to fulfill His purposes. 

We have enclosed a picture of us from Disney World this year (while we were helping out at the Pastor's Conference)  that was sent in our package to Korea.  The boys are so excited about Lydia they are telling their friends that they will get a referral this month!!  Oh, if only it worked as they predict!
